South Dublin County Partnership (SDCP) www.sdcpartnership.ie

We tackle poverty and social exclusion in South Dublin County. We develop projects and services to support sustainable and vibrant communities where people realise their potential and experience a high quality of life. The focus of our activities is on areas where people experience disadvantage. We have organised the Partnership’s work in six broad themes. Our activities take place in several places in South Dublin County – see the map below for the exact locations.

Local Employment Services

The Department of Social Protection contracts the Partnership to provide a Local Employment Service (LES) in South Dublin County. The LES works with people on an individual basis to help them find work. A mediator meets regularly with each client to identify training needs, support job-seeking activities and help with CV preparation. People can walk in to any of the LESN offices in Tallaght and Clondalkin to make an appointment.

Tús

We manage Tús, the national Community Work Placement Programme, in South Dublin County. This means we help local community organisations to apply for Tús places and we match Tús clients to these places. Clients are referred to us by the Department of Social Protection and we prepare people to take up a Tús position and support them while in their placement. Towards the end of a placement we work with people to get them ready for the labour market. To find out more, contact Eleanor O’Brien.  For more information about the Tús programme nationally, visit the Citizens Information website.

Social enterprise

Social enterprises are businesses that provide services or goods to address social issues in a community. The profits they make are put back in the business or invested in the community itself; rather than making a profit for investors, their most important goal is to make a social impact. The Partnership has an impressive track record in developing and supporting social economy projects, for example RecycleIt and ReCreate.
